Grandmaster Yap
Cheng Hai
Grandmaster Yap Cheng Hai, 78, is a renowned figure in the fengshui
as well as Chinese martial arts circles. Thousands of students from
all over the world have graduated from under him in both the
subjects. So renowned is he that not only is he a much sought after
teacher of fengshui, but also, he has people from almost all
continents who want to consult him about their properties or
businesses keep him very much "on the road" and "in the air"
literally. Despite his age, he seems to be tireless and full of
energy. "I love what I am doing, that's why," he would say to anyone
who wants to know the secret of his high energy level.
His Two Passion
- Fengshui/Geomancy & Wu Shu
Master Yap was born in Singapore. Except for a break of about four
years in Xiamen, China, he spent most his childhood and adolescence
in Singapore. But he came to Kuala Lumpur in 1963 to manage his
uncle's business Chin Ho (M). He stayed with Chin Ho until today as
its senior general manager and director. He also became a Malaysian
citizen. Although busy with his work, he ardently pursued his two
passions: fengshui or geomancy and wu shu. An avid reader from his
childhood days in China, he learnt mostly through books. In fact,
besides geomancy and wu shu, he was interested in anything that had
to do with Chinese culture and the metaphysical, history, healing,
palmistry, astrology and physiognomy, geomancy. He used to practise
on family members and friends at the beginning. His skills spread by
word of mouth and soon, he was much sought after by a fast expanding
circle. Only in his forties did he sought a master in Taiwan who was
an expert in the water system.in fengshui. He began practicing as a
fengshui consultant professionally from the early Sixties. Besides
individuals including prominent personalities like ministers and
members of the royalty, he is also consulted by corporations, banks,
casinos, developers and businesses big and small. Paramount Garden
has been his loyal client since the Sixties. They consulted him when
they were planning all their townships including SEA Park, Damansara
Utama and Bandar Utama. He was also involved in the designing of
1-Utama from the fengshui aspect.

of Southern Shaolin Wu Ju Quan Association
Master Yap is well-known in the wu shu arena. He is a founding
member of the Chinese Wu Shu Federation of Malaysia and has been its
working committee chairman since its inception. He helps organise
competitions held annually as well as lead contigents to China for
competitions. He is also the chairman of the International Gathering
of Southern Shaolin Wu Ju Quan Associations. He is co-founder and
current president of the Chee Kim Thong Pugilistic and Health
Society. |
